Yeah Yeah San Carlos!

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, you know that all anyone is talking about is the Hurt Locker. But more specifically, the history that was made last night with the Oscars and Katherine Bigalow taking home gold. Now, here's the best part! Bigelow not only proved her slimy exhasband that she was better but she's also a San Carlosian! That's right, she's from these here parts! Now according to Wikipedia (which Michael Scott tells us that it's reliable because it gets the best information from everybody), her mom was a librarian and her pops was a print factory worker. Was her mom working at the original San Carlos library OR does she still work there? I do have to go to the library tomorrow...maybe i should ask for Mrs. Bigelow!!

Kudos and Boos (2 days late)

and without further ado...

Kudos: Julia! Congrats on getting a job at JPL...Jet Proportions Laboratories!!! You are a superstar!!
Boos: Bachelor Jake. He has the season finale of the bachelor the SAME night as the newest cast of Dancing with the Stars was released. Seems like he went on the show for more than just a fiance. At this rate, I feel another Gossling-fame-hungry-celebrity-wannabe coming on. Watch out people.com! Bachelor Jake is here to stay!

Kudos: Bachelor Jason and Molly! Now, although I wasn't a fan of what he did in the season finale (dumped the one he did pick, Melissa something-or-other on live TV and picked his 2nd choice) I wasn't outraged because I don't care for Melissa something-or-other but I was happy when I saw that he and Molly got married! I think them and Ryan and Trista Sutter are the only ones actually hitched. I wonder if Bachelor Jake will make it to the aisle. Doubtful!!!
Boos: John Mayer...lock it up! He is just getting himself into trouble when he opens his mouth...save yourself the trouble and just stick to lyrics!

Kudos: Christopher got in the Vail Fire Program last week!
Boos: Christopher is moving to Vail in 3 weeks.

Kudos: The Olympians!! I admit I was not as good about watching them as I usually am (or at least with the summer olympics) but they done good! Not to shabby USA!
Boos: Kate Gossling. I thought for a second there we were relieved of this car-wreck and then I heard that she's going to be on Dancing with the Stars. I use the word Stars loosely in this cast. While I think it might only be encouraging this desperate attempt to fame, it would have been good trash tv if they put Jon on too. But, then again, I think that we have a little too much of that going on.

Killer Killer Whales

Now, this is a reason to stay out of the ocean.

On Thursday a killer whale, or orca, named Chuck Tompkins, killed a trainer at Sea World in Florida. After playing in the practice tank, the whale attacked his trainer (here have been multiple reports as what really happened--did the whale pull her pony tail or did it go for her waist?) and she "most likely died from multiple traumatic injuries and drowning after one of the park's killer whales pulled her into a pool behind Shamu Stadium," says the sheriff's office (ah yeah I would say that was pretty traumatic).

And this was not a baby either, this was a beast--literally. Chuck weighs 12,000 lbs and is 22 feet long. That is like a yacht! I don't really see how this trainer was voluntarily standing close to the whale. CNN says that this woman was living it up with her "dream" job. To me it sounds like a nightmare. In fact, the whole concept of an aquatic theme park is so over my head...as are aquariums. I could tell you that I am an animal rights activist and think it is cruel to confine them (which yeah I see their point) but really it is because I just don't like sea creatures. Fish, on my plate, not swimming next to me. Seaweed, no thank you. Dolphins I do not trust. Seals freak me out. Sharks and Whales? You have got to be kidding me.

I do, however, love to go to the beach. But, I enjoy the beautiful blue ocean from the comfortable, warm sand.

Here's the CNN article...http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/02/25/florida.seaworld.death/index.html?hpt=T1

Kudos and Boos (a day late)

Kudos...USA! You beat the Canadians in Hockey. Now, while I do not understand hockey, nor see a reason to have it...well done.
Boos...Tiger Woods. What a tool.

Kudos...Hillary Duff. Engaged and everything and she's only a week older than I am! I don't think so.
Boos...This weather. It was so beautiful when we were in LA (80 degrees and sunny) and now it's cold and raining.

Kudos...Julia! It's your birthday (or at least it was on Saturday...but you know how i feel about celebrating bdays)! I hope your day was so much fun and i am so sorry I was late! We did get her a suuuuper legit card though.
Boos...Plane crash in Palo Alto last week. Although Luckily, no one was hurt, how sad! Ii told you flying was dangerous.

Tiger Woods...what a tool.

So, everyone and their mother has commented on the Tiger press conference, but I can't resist.

Now, first, I must say that I was impressed with the way he did defend his wife (but i can't really say that I believe him completely...that SNL skit was just a little too convincing). But the "press conference" (if you could call it that) was not very informative. First of all he didn't take any questions at the end. So really he was just talking. And, he kept saying that everything is private between Tiger and Elin. Why even hold the effin conference?? Give the people what they want and the people want the answers of what happened!

Annnd did you see his mother when they first showed her? She had her arms crossed for the beginning like she was royally pissed off! She did throw me off when they had that hug after the was done but that was definitely just for the cameras.

While he did admit to having affairs, he kept saying the same bullshit over and over again...what a tool.

Celebrities are Real People

So. Big news. Last week, I was in LA, on a walk with Lady Di and Marko. We were walking through the hills and of course, I was looking in windows seeing if I can spot anyone famous. We were close to getting back to the house and we approaching Adrian Grenier’s house (that’s right…Nonni lives across the street from Vincent Chase from Entourage) and I was getting ready to keep a steady eye for a possible spotting and I saw two men running towards me. I thought, oh I will get out of their way. Suddenly as I am staring at them, one man says: Good Morning to which I reciprocate and then the other man says the same and as soon as they pass, I say to Marko and Lady Di, “did you see who that was?!” I had my very first real, classy celebrity sighting. David Hyde Pierce, Niles Crane on Frasier (one of my fave shows) and also the voice of a bug in a Bugs Life said good morning to me. The curse has been lifted and A list celebs now do not run from me.

Oh and check out that legit list I have going of celebrity sightings. Now, maybe Easter will be the day that I finally see Vinny Chase.

Catch Up

So, although I promised to be more on top of th ings….again I fail. February did not start off on the best foot and that took a while to get back into the swing of things. Talk about the two longest weeks. But, we were able to get away and go to LA for the weekend and get what we all needed. We were doted on by Nonni (more so dad was doted on, the rest of us just went along for the ride), played some Holiday Classic soccer, got in some legit R&R, and of course, some yummy yummy food. It was the good life!

Now, things have finally settled down and we have found normal again…so now on to the hip hop happenings in the celebrity world and beyond!
