How has it that i haven't blogged since July? Well, there was vacation and then lots of shit hitting the fan so time started to fly. I'll do an extended kudos and boos (yes, even though I am a day late) and fill you in on the hip hop haps.
Kudos to Lisa in LA. That's right, Lisa who was doing a six week stint in Los Angeles when she got a job at Immaculate Heart as a substitute teacher, has officially relocated and is the Registrar of IHHS. And she's loving life down there. I was down this weekend to visit and she's living with my St. Charles compadre, Julia in Pasadena and their apartment is ridiculously cute. She sounds just as busy as ever, running all over between school, friends, and just driving in Los Angeles. When I called Lisa on Thursday afternoon on my way down to check in on plans for the weekend, she was telling me that Friday night she had to chaperone a dance, then Saturday she had to have CPR training and then Sunday she had a football game to watch. Well ex-cauuuuuuse me! But, I'll be back down in a couple of weeks so I've asked her to pencil me in. How quickly they forget!
Boos to solo drives to LA. Well, let me set the stage, I left on Thursday afternoon right after work, and while it was a super good idea a couple weeks prior, I was exhausted before I even left the office. And once I got on the freeway, I was greeted with tons of traffic, but I found my groove eventually then I didn't mind it - especially when I was rocking out to my playlist and able to sing at the top of my lungs without judgement.
Kudos to Michael in DC! He is also living the life out there and today he posted on the book that he got an internship with Senator Olympia Snowe. I am not up to date on this lady but that's pretty awesome! I'm hoping to get out there in October to go for a visit but he may be running the place at that point. And here's his blog (now you have two Bonino blogs to follow): http://bbtodc.tumblr.com/ check it out!
Boos to Lady Di's celeb sighting whilest we were in San Clemente. The day that I was leaving to come home, she and Marko were driving me to the airport and this was the very last thing that I said to her: "Mom, you best not see any Real Housewives of Orange County now that I am leaving." So I walked into the airport and went through security and as I was sitting down at the gate, I got a call from my Mom saying, "You will never believe who is at Big Five with me." And low and behold it's Alexis. Buying shoes for her kids. And I was at their airport waiting to fly home. Just my luck!
Kudos to Pool Parties in Downtown LA. This past weekend we also celebrated Sarah and Tom's birthdays in Downtown LA. Sarah turned 30 last week and Tom's birthday was just a few days after so they rented a room at the Marriot and had some friends over for a pool party. It's really the way I am supposed to spend my Saturdays. AND I got to see all of Team Wedding, some who I haven't seen since the actual wedding so that was just an added bonus.
Boos to bidding summer adieu. While the weather will try and fool you (especially in LA since it was friggin hot down there this weekend), we're beyond Labor Day so we're in "fall" but I think we can still sneak in a couple of weekends to layout in there.
Kudos to construction. It seems like it has been going on for forever, but we have the furniture back in the downstairs and things are slowly but surely starting to come together. They're supposed to be done in just a few weeks, which makes Marko extremely happy. And me too so that they'll be out of my bathroom!
Boos to construction. It seems like it has been going on for forever. I'm over it.
And one for the celebrity world...
Kudos to Matthew Perry returning to TV. America really screwed up by not keeping Studio 60 on the air - I think Carly, Kate and I were pretty much the only people who watched that show. So all you other fools really stepped in that.
Boos to some of my fave couples calling it quits, like Adrienne Maloof and Paul Nassif and Amy Poehler and Will Arnett. What's going on Hollywood?! It's almost as if they don't last!

Kudos and Boos...
Here we go for some kudos and boos...happy sunday!
Kudos to the Olympics! I love the summer olympics. The Pomp! The Circumstance! I'm a sucker for it (especially the swimming and diving). I watched the Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, so rather than watch it for 4.5 hours, I was able to watch it in about an hour and it was pretty awesome! The whole ring creation and not to mention the fireworks were pretty spectacular. I have been watching them all weekend and even last night when we were in downtown Palo Alto, the bar we were at was playing the men's gymnastics. The whole bar was fixated on it and it stinks that the whole nation is working for the next two weeks so we can't just sit and watch it. But, thank goodness for the internet so I can catch up on all the highlights!
Boos to the Kristin Stewart fiasco. Where to start, where to start? Here's where...the public statement. What was she thinking - actually, scratch that, what was her publicist thinking? Have they ever heard of deny, deny, deny? Not to mention that she's barely recognized the fact that she and Rob were together these few years and then once those pics surfaced, she's showing emotion and admitting they're in love. And even her director boyfriend released one too - boy these people are new to the Hollywood scene. Then, there are the photos that caught them red handed. In my opinion, they had it coming. They are both super loaded, so why did they not think to sneak around to maybe a hotel where they were away from any cameras? Oh no, they thought, oh let's go tootle around town in my mini coop and just park it, no one will see us. Well, that's not true because they were caught. Now, it's all over the news that she's devastated, blah blah blah. This whole thing could have been avoided if they even just drove to the valley, away from any paparazzi. We'll see how this plays out but hopefully it'll fade away...quickly.
Kudos to Kathy Griffin! Kate and I went to the Nob Hill Masonic in San Francisco and saw her show. We saw her last year and decided it's going to be a "whenever she comes to town" deal and as usual, she did not disappoint. She had some good material (thank you Kristin Stewart and the Jackson family drama) and was up on stage for a little over two hours, all well worth it! AND after the show, Kate and I booked it to the elevators and even saw another celeb - Steve Wozniak! We essentially cut a bunch of people and took some people out so we could get closer, but he hopped in an elevator super quickstyle and vanished, well until we got in the car and sat there trying to get out of the parking structure and he was a few cars ahead! But, add it to our celeb sighting list, thank you very much.
Boos to Footloose. Not the original, but the remake. I got it on my Netflix this weekend and I heard it was good, but very very similar to the original. So, when I watched it today I was finding new things to do so that I didn't have to just sit and watch it. I was organizing anything and everything (even blogging - whoa, I know) and I was not impressed. This movie was almost identical, so in my opinion, why remake it?
Kudos to the Dark Knight Rises (let's just focus on the movie itself - nothing more). But this movie was awesome. SO good. Although it was definitely long - 2 hours and 45 minutes, yes it tested my patience - but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Let's just say Joseph Gordon Levitt was phenom, I liked Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and well Christian Bale was legit as always.
Boos to waiting for vacation. That's right - it's five days away so I spent most of my day making lists of all the things that I need to do between now and then, all of the errands I should run, and ways to make this week go by even faster. Now I just need to get through the next five working days and HELLO SAN CLEMENTE (yes, I already have a list of things to do).
And can we take a moment to recognize the length of this Kudos and Boos?

Food Tour of Laurel - Stop Number 2
Lady Di and I have a new Friday tradition to go to lunch at a new place on Laurel. We started it a couple of weeks ago because she wanted to try this Thai place that I was raving about and she knew Marko wouldn't go with her...so enter Julie. And what a perfect opportunity for a blog series, right? Hopefully it will help me blog more than once a week :o)
Since she was completely satisfied with Siamese Kitchen (the mentioned Thai place), this past Friday, we hit this one spot that has been open for about a year or so - Positano. It's channeling the Italy feel with the small restaurant space with lots of tables, but with a splash of trendiness. I ordered a grilled chicken gorgonzola salad and Lady Di opted for the vegetarian panini. Well Lady Di's plate was all well and good but mine was definitely the superior dish! It was so tasty. It had grilled chicken (obviously), gorgonzola dressing, rasins (a surprising element), apples and butter lettuce. If it were appropriate to lick my plate, I would have this was so good. In fact, I would be okay with going back every day and have that salad.
We sat outside (since it was such a pretty day) so we got to get in some solid people watching - sidenote: Laurel Street is one hell of a popular place on a Friday afternoon for lunch. People were all over the place and almost every restaurant had the hustle and bustle. Where all these people were coming from, I have no idea. But i digress...so if you find yourself on Laurel Street, try this place out and get this salad. You will be completely satisfied!

Kudos and Boos
Don't look now, but here's kudos and boos!
Kudos to Burning Love! This show is, in a word, awesome. A parody on the "reality" show, the Bachelor, this web series on Yahoo has never disappointed. Sarah showed it to me (I believe it's one of Tom's shows) and it had me hooked from the first episode. Each is only about 8 minutes long, and it will keep you laughing the entire time. Mostly because the main bachelor, Mark is a doofus and really deserves an Oscar for this show. Don't even get me started on the guest stars! I shouldn't be surprised though, it's Ben Stiller is a producer. Watch it now!
Boos to 4th of July on a Wednesday. Note that I am not saying Boos to the holiday itself - but more so because of the middle of the week holiday. And believe me, I am a proud supporter of holidays! I just have issues when it breaks the week into two mini weeks and then have to deal with a full week starting tomorrow. Why must five days seem so long?
Kudos to Revenge. I have been staying away from this show since it premiered - never really anticipating it to make it very far. And while people have been telling me till their blue in the face that I need to watch it, I have been blowing it off. So the other day I finally sat down to watch the pilot and to say I was hooked, well, that's a bit of an understatement. I signed up for HuluPlus (free trial period of course) just so I can catch all of the episodes. Thank you summer hiatus for letting me get my fall viewing schedules in order!
Boos to the already bitter and greusome Tomkat divorce. It's been about 20 minutes and we're hearing all about the Scientology, the custody, the who's got what. Believe me, I am all for a scandal, but how many times can we hear that Scientology is cray cray?
Kudos to almost vacation. We just hit the 4 weeks to go mark and I've had multiple, "Mom, this time in four weeks we'll be (fill in the blank)." I've already started making a list of all the awesome things I'll plan on doing in the blissful San Clemente, now if it will only come a little faster.
Boos to four weeks till vacation. That's four weeks of work standing between me and the beach. Come on let's have time fly just a little faster!
Oh and side note: A July goal is to tweet more. So follow me on twitter @juliebonino
Check it out fools, kudos and boos...on time.

Watch Out World, Here Comes Clannie!
It's me! Yes I have been MIA lately, but it's summer time. But what better way to kick off the blogging spirit than with a video? I have been talking about doing this for a while, and I have always been perklumped on how to load videos to blogs but BOY it's amazing what google will teach you.
Anyways, last year at Sarah and Tom's wedding, the multi-talented Clannie (a nickname for Claire and Anne Marie, coined by their loving older brother) brought the house down with a song during the ceremony. And even though it was over a year ago, it still brings me to tears every time.

Disclaimer! Before watching, you should know this is Marko's footage. For the first bit, you'll get to truly examine the fabric from Nonni's dress as well as see her hairline throughout the song. And this is much better video than the rehearsal dinner. Yes, Marko should keep his day job.
Not going to lie, the original Elvis version is somewhat mediocre now.

Kudos and Boos
Remember when I said I was going to blog more? Well, I've been a little busy so here we go with Kudos and Boos (short version cause I am tired)...
Kudos to David graduating! We went to LA this weekend to celebrate David's b-day and graduation this weekend! What a day! But who the heck cares, woohoo David!
Boos to the short lives of running shoes. They say every 3-6 months you're supposed to change them out, others say for however many days a week you wear them, that's how many times a year you're supposed to change them. Either way it's way too often for how expensive they are! But today I sucked it up and got a new pair - branching out of my typical brand and going for nike's - and boy I am going to wear them till they fall off my feet!
Kudos to Lisa getting a J-O-B. She got a job at Immaculate Heart summer school - and officially moves to Nonni's next weekend! Well, she moves to Nonni's for the next 2 months...and then TBD and who knows what will happen next! I think it's a good idea and a great next step!
Boos to the painfully long third installment of "Girl with the...fill in the blank" actually, in this case, it's "Girl who kicked the Hornet's Nest" now I was ALL about the first book - well from page 200 on - and the second was ok but left with a serious cliff hanger...not I am 200 pages in with what feels like a million to go. And it's official, this writer is obnoxiously meticulous with every detail. Just tell me the sky is blue and move on!
Kudos to another celebrity sighting! As we were walking out of the Americana on Friday night, Lisa told me to turn around and walk back to confirm the celeb she spotted - none other than Adam Scott from one of my favorite shows, Parks & Rec. At first I told Lisa to shut it, it wasn't him. Then after a confirmation from Sarah that it was, I had to go back for one last look and apologize. Woohoo!! We saw Adam Scott!
Boos to fast weekends and full weeks ahead. I don't want to go to work tomorrow! But I need to put my time off request in for San Clemente - Holler!!
I hope to blog more this week! maybe a farewell series to lisa moving out. I can't promise anything though.

Hello June!
Today is June 1st, so that means summer is finally here, a new set of goals commence and it's my dear compadre, Teresa's birthday!!!
So let's start on summer...it's about time. And I get to officially partake in one of my favorite past times - laying out in the sun all weekend. It usually takes me all summer to get a decent tan but oh well, I welcome the challenge. And what an enjoyable challenge it is - especially if it involves a sit-n-float.
As for new goals - that's right, I'm all about my monthly goals. So here we go (1) befriend the one thing I hate most on this planet (besides sea creatures and lizards) - Pushups (2) Blog more (3) start the JK movie review - more on that later (4) accessorize more (5) start watching Revenge (that's more for Teresa and Kate) and (6) Tweet (follow me@juliebonino). I hope to do some weekly checkins on this with my kudos and boos (aren't you stoked you read my blog? One of my goals last month was to start Downton Abbey so I knew what people were taking about and while I went in thinking I don't want to like this - BOY was I hooked. Another one of my goals was to quit Jersey Housewives cold turkey and I am happy to report I have succeeded. I only watched the first episode and hasn't seen an episode since. That's strength, pride and determination all wrapped into one goal.
And finally, June 1st is my girl Teresa's birthday! I have to give her a shout out (a huge perk of having a blog!) so HAPPY BIRTHDAY T! And to work towards a goal - I just tweeted about it (CHECK!). I am unstoppable!
#ImmakingJunemybitch #watchoutworld
(I also think i am getting the hang of hashtagging)
